Yo, this is my Act 3 alternate ending for "A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen, ENJOY!

(Nora leaves Torvald, Meanwhile Krogstad is visiting Mrs. Linde at her home.)

[Stage lights up, Krogstad and Kristina are in her kitchen]

Mrs. Linde: Oh Krogstad you are the same gentle hearted man I knew you always were, it was very kind of you to return the bond back to the Helmers.

Krogstad: [Grabs Mrs. Linde's hands] I knew you would be the person to understand what i have done is not evil but only an attempt to try climbing back up the social ladder.

Mrs. Linde: Let us have a cup of tea and talk though all the years we have missed!

[There is a knock on Mrs.Linde's door. Mrs. Linde enters the foyer with a capricious tone]

Mrs. Linde: Who could it be at this hour? [To krogstad] We will talk when they leave! [opens door]

Nora: [Bursting in] Kristina! I really am in need of a place to stay, I have left Torvald because I have learned I am nothing more than a "Dolly wife" to him.

Krogstad: [entering the foyer] Oh dear, this is all my fault I must fix it.

Mrs. Linde: [To Krogstad] I should have let you take to letter out of the box.

Nora: No, honestly I must thank you both, this has enlightened me to the happiness I have missed out on in my long marriage with a corrupt man. He said his honor can only go so far but he will not sacrifice it for his own wife! Now that is a crime that needs apologizing. [To Mrs. Linde] Tomorrow I need you to fetch my stuff for me at Mr. Helmer's house please. Also, check on my children tell them that mommy loves them and that they are in good hands with Nanny, for she raised someone who's heart and mind are large from her upbringing. After staying here for a week then I shall leave and start a new life hopefully one filled with happiness, lessons, and lots of macaroons!

[Stage dims and everyone exits]

(A year has passed and Nora has a new job as a seamstress and lives alone with a cat.)

[Stage lights up and Nora is at work knitting a blanket for her cat.]

Nora; Oh Torvalt, you are such a good cat this blanket is all for you!

Torvalt: Meow [Then makes a tumultuous noise]

[There is a soft knock at the door, Nora rises from her chair and answers it]

Nora: Oh my goodness, this can't be!

Rank: Oh but it is my dear Nora, I know you are shocked but I can explain my sudden appearance and wellness. 

[Nora nods and closes the door]

Nora: Please sit. Isn't it ironic that I have become a seamstress! One thing I could never do. [Patting her couch]

Rank: [Sitting] How funny. Well here is my story. To start off about a week after I had left your house a very good friend of mine who was researching multiple illnesses had contacted me and informed me he had found a way to give me more time to live. 

Nora: [Interrupting] Oh Rank, I cannot suppress the happiness I have right now!

Rank: Anyway, I was so excited that I immediately thought of you and how i had to give you and Torvald the good news, but as I arrived he had told me you had left him and were at Mrs. Linde's home, thus I could not share my good news when my friend had such despair. Therefore I told him we will talk in the soon future and left to Mrs. Linde's house to find you.

Nora: But Rank why didn't I see you earlier then?

Rank: [Hanging his head] You see, by the time I had gotten there you had left, and I decided to stave from you to give time to heal from your broken heart til I find you again. But just as I did then, I still love you Nora [Looks Nora in the eyes] and would give my body and soul to be with you.

Nora: [Staring Rank back in the eyes] The funny thing is...I love you too.

[They both smile and the stage dims. All exit]

Aloha everyone, you know what they say third posts a charm, anyway I'm back again to report on Act 2 of "A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen. I would just like to start off my saying after this act, I am completely head over heels for Dr.Rank and I wish he was not dying but alas his T.B. gets the best of him. Here's a short reminder of some events that took place and my feeling/opinions on them:

-Mrs.Linde believes Nora borrowed the money from Doctor Rank when in all reality she borrowed it from Krogstad (This shows how Nora and Dr.Ranks relationship is somewhat flirty and shows the close bond they have between one another). But, once she knows it was Krogstad she offers help to Nora by saying "there was a time when he would gladly have done anything for me" (Ibsen, 202). This showed there was a chance she could probably get the bond back.

When Mrs.Linde finds out that Krogstad gave her the money

-Helmer decides to continue with dismissal of Krogstad with the reason of respect and his disreputable values. When Nora tries fighting he simply says "I hear Krogstad is a good worker, too. But I knew him when we were boys. […] this tactless fellow lays no restraint on himself when other people are present. On the contrary, he thinks it gives him the right to adopt a familiar tone with me," (Ibsen, 189). I believe Helmer was right to say this because when you maintain that high of a position you deserve to be treated in the respect that comes with it. Also, this was another sign of Nora's blundered attempt to save their marriage and I find it funny how he has no idea how this will ruin his marriage in the long run. I hate Helmer so much thus I'm sorry if I am bias.

How I feel about Helmer

-Nora was going to end up asking Rank to borrow money because Mrs.Linde gave her that splendid idea, but then we find out he is madly in love with her and is prepared to give his "body and soul" (Ibsen, 195) to help her in anyway, shape, or form (I was literally dying when this scene took place). Due to this announcement Nora's true colors come out and she shows she does care for him back but could not be with him and realizes she cannot ask for the money anymore. Also, by the end of Act 2 she symbolizes the dance of Tarantella as the event right before she will kill herself because she sees no benificial way out of this problem. #OMG

Nora's reaction to Rank's announcement *Oh my lawd.....STOPPP!*

-My reactions and feelings is that there is an extreme amount of drama in this scene which I love! I think that Dr.Rank is very brave about telling her that he loves her because that is a very risky thing to say to a married woman. We now know Nora is not only clever and childish but we can now see her naughty side (hahaha gross) when she playfully smacks Rank with her tights. We also see another case in which women are seen as lesser and not smart or independent whatsoever when Helmer as usual says he cannot be influenced by a woman cause they are "weak". Once again I can relate to the story because Nora and I both share the role as the lesser dominant in our houses. Since I live in a house with only 2 boys and grew up with all boys I'm usually the one to have to follow the boys.

Hey everyone, I'm back again to report on Act 1 of "A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen. So far my favorite character in this story is Nora because, she reminds me of the one and only NADIA BELVERIO! She has a very strong character who loves money, is very self-centered, beyond over dramatic, and extremely smart but cannot show it due to the time period. I find large amounts of irony as I read because, Torvald (Nora's Husband) calls her many intolerable names such as Scatterbrain, squirrel, and skylark which is no where near her true identity. Their marriage is very strange to me and even before reading the character descriptions I initially thought they were father and daughter due to the amount of dominance he had over her but, back when this was written they were probably seen as very in love.

I have learned my prediction from my last post is accurate because, we now know that Mr. Krogstad, a man who forged a signature and had his reputation because of it and Nora had borrowed money from to save her husband's life (trip to Italy for stress), found out Nora forged her fathers signature and uses this information to manipulate her which shows he has no refinement whatsoever. This reminds me of the piece we read called "A Problem" by Anton Chekhov where the main character also commits forgery. Due to his blackmailing to make Nora use her husband's advancement to his benefit, she responds hysterically with, "Hasn't a daughter the right to protect her dying father from worry and anxiety? Hasn't a wife the right to save her husband's life? I don't know much about the law, but I'm quite certain that it must say somewhere that things like that are allowed,"(Act 1, pg. 175-176) but, sorry Nora I don't think that's how the world works. To me this whole situation could have been avoided many times by not borrowing the money from such a evil man or she should have not forged the signature in the first place. Due to this we learn how Nora's character is portrayed as a feminist because, she has the nerve to take matters into her own hands when it is nearly impossible to do back then. But, then we go back to the matter where her husband's opinion matters more than anything else when he tells her "Nora, Nora! Just like a woman! But seriously, Nora, you know what I think about that sort of thing. No debts, no borrowing. There's something constrained, something ugly even, about a home that's founded on borrowing and debt."(Act 1, pg. 149) showing her how much he hates the idea of borrowing. She even decides to not see her own children at the end of the act because she thinks she will corrupt them with her lies because Torvald tells her, "Because an atmosphere of lies like that infects and poisons the whole life of a home. In a house like that, every breath that the children take is filled with the germs of evil."(Act 1, pg. 179) I can understand how Nora must feel on the verge of death because I have felt manipulated and have lied to someone I loved which i soon regretted, but I feel as though she is very strong as I am and will fight through it and her marriage will survive, but we leave this act with sad children, a clueless husband, and a desperate, upset Nora.

Hi, I'm Nadia, your typical girl who will eventually become an insane cat lady who eats food all day and completely trashes kids in video games. Back in the day I stuck out like a sore thumb in the girl world because i wasn't really into dolls and rather "rassle" in the mud all day with the boys but alas my English teacher Ms.Santos loves to remind me of those days without dollies by introducing us to the play "A Dolls House" by Henrik Ibsen. You see the thing is English has gotten pretty boring to me throughout the year (Sorry Ms.Santos) but, I believe this play will reignite our flame. Now that i think about it though, my writing and conversation skills have both improved but, we still have a long way to go.

Here is a little biography on the author of the wonderful play "A Dolls House". Henrik Ibsen was born on March 20, 1828, in Skien, Norway. His father was a successful merchant and his mother painted, played the piano and loved to go to the theater. At 15, Ibsen stopped school and went to work. In 1862, he was exiled to Italy, where he wrote the tragedy Brand. In 1868, Ibsen moved to Germany, where he wrote one of his most famous works: the play A Doll's House. In 1890, he wrote Hedda Gabler, creating one of theater's most notorious characters. By 1891, Ibsen had returned to Norway a literary hero. Unlike many other writers and poets, Ibsen had a long and seemingly happy marriage to Suzannah Daae Thoresen. He died on May 23, 1906, in Oslo, Norway.

One Hot Man am I right ladies?

Since the title of the play is "A Dolls House" I think we can all infer this play will be a kids story about dolls. I think not, let me remind you we are in 10th grade English it is never that simple. I believe that the play will be based on a person who is very manipulative with the people in their life. Hence how a child can manipulate a dolls actions and "life", I think a theme in the story will definitely be power and the "dolls" are a symbol of the ones being controlled.
